    Always love your videos and watch every day before playing golf. Question: you say extension and stretch up to the cereal box but how to do this with your right elbow tucked? You’ve helped me so much in changing from the traditional golf swing with the three free lessons and I’m now enjoying golf instead of being lost in the wilderness! Just a few bits to put together like shoulder down but buttons up. I’m getting there. 😅Thanks so much.

    great vid, amazing tips, at 9.14 into the vid when you smashed that drive, your lead arm in bent, you look accross the line and the club is way past parallel, all the things i am trying to avoid !! im trying to stop over swinging, i guess ot doesnt matter then if your timing ios on point?

    A person can play decent golf with a good grip and a bad swing, but cannot play decent with a bad grip and good swing. The weight forward approach you emphasize really does work. More people need to be looking into that as well

    An "AHA!" moment for me was letting the club travel back and letting my trail wrist bend straight back to load at the top as opposed to letting my grip break down. It keeps the club face in the right position through the swing. Keeping the grip consistent through the swing is HUGE. As always, I'm totally here for the old music references, and the shout out to EMF is no exception!

    Great tips! I tend to use a stronger grip because I have little B#@ch hands! I tried this at home felt pretty good with the pressure on my thumb felt more relaxed without feeling loose. Next session at the driving range Iam going to give it a try. Thanks Tom!

    Another fantastic video from you the man Tom Saguto. I really love everything about stack and tilt except that you have to put your weight on your left side though out the swing. I'm 62 overweight and have a left knee that's bone on bone. I'm probably going to get a replacement later this year. I just got an injection and it may last a couple of months but it hurts when I put pressure on it. I have had to try other way's of swinging to keep my knee from buckling along with the pain. It is such a bummer because I have never had the great swing that I had working with you for the few years I did. Any suggestions or am I screwed until I can get the knee replaced? I still watch everyone of your video's and I really appreciate all your great instruction it is awesome. I recommend to everyone who ask about swing methods to look up and join Sagutogolf right away.

    • @SagutoGolf
      @SagutoGolf 4 години тому

      I'm glad you enjoyed this analysis, Craig, and I hope some of the key takeaways are helpful to you! Until you get that knee figured out, I would just focused on staying as centered as you can while still allowing your body to be engaged in the motion as much as you comfortably can. One suggestion might be to set up with a somewhat straightened trail leg to get your hips inclined and partially rotated. Then just swing your shoulders on their tilted angle while keeping your head in place. Steve Elkington preset his hips and straightened his trail leg in his setup when he was learning S&T...and he even played tour events doing that. So perhaps you could make something like that work on a temporary basis until your lead knee is repaired and ready for action. I hope that helps! Tom

    I noticed you do not mention cupping the lead wrist so your glove trademark faces away from the ball on the down swing to insure squaring the club. What is your opinion on this?

    • @SagutoGolf
      @SagutoGolf 4 години тому

      I simply "allow" the wrist to work without forcing anything. If we pre-establish the connections properly in the setup and have a foundational base that facilitates a full centered turn without restriction, then once we've ingrained the correct actions through sequential drilling and repetition we can entrust the motion to the big muscles and allow the arms, wrists, hands, and club to simply go along for the ride and respond accordingly as if on autopilot. The power accumulators - including the proper arm, wrist, and hand action - will then naturally load and fire with no contrived manipulations or precise timing necessary, thereby returning the face to the position pre-established at address. It's called "giving up control to gain control", and it's the formula for consistently blissful ball striking and seemingly effortless power. While there are certainly videos on my channel that address this topic, a better option would be my FREE mini course “The Top 3 Things You Need to Be a Great Ball Striker”: go.saguto.golf/ It's a great way to gain a fundamental understanding of this system as well as an introduction to the instruction style that has thousands of men and women from across the globe - including many accomplished, low-handicap, competitive players and spanning all age ranges from junior to super-senior - enjoying the best golf of their lives: saguto.golf/p/sagutogolfreviews Tom

    Wait a minute. Why are you adjusting your club face after taking your grip? Adjust your club face to the target and then apply the grip. You are doing this backwards. I keep a strong grip (2.5 knuckles showing) but I take the grip after getting my club face aligned. The results are straight, long drives with about a 14 degree launch angle. When I used a neutral grip I launched the ball higher (about 18 degree launch) but had a slice that went so hard right that it appeared to put on a turn signal. With the strong grip, at 52 years old, I still hit drives in excess of 280 yards consistently and shoot in the mid-80's at tough courses. If only I could putt better....

    • @SagutoGolf
      @SagutoGolf 4 години тому

      We establish the clubface angle at address by setting the face square to the target line at the "zero point", which is in line with the lead shoulder/armpit from a face-on view. From there we move our hands back to the stock setup position - even with the inside of the lead thigh - and simply place the clubface behind the ball without any manipulations. If the ball position is behind the hands - as it typically is - then this will result in the face naturally opening a slight amount without any twisting or turning of the hands, thereby setting us up for the stock push-draw ball flight. If the ball position is ahead of the hands - for example, if we are using this swing system's Shot Shaping Grid to set up for a pull-fade - then the face would be closed to the target line by a slight amount, again - without any manipulations. Deterring you from your desired grip is not the point here. A strong grip - when deployed as an anti-slice band-aid - is precisely that: a patch for a deficiency or flaw somewhere upstream in the swing motion that the teacher or golfer can't or won't fix. If, on the other hand - so to speak 😎 - it is simply a matter of personal preference, then we should endeavor to remain keenly aware of our ball flight as it is quite adept at telling us if our grip is starting to leak too much to the strong side. Anyway, thanks for visiting and keep up the great playing! Tom

    • @SagutoGolf

      The swing is a tilted circle (or arc, if we wish to get technical), the circumference of which extends from the ball to above and behind our shoulders. As such, if we are going to remain on that circle/arc it requires the hands and club to take a slightly inward path - not a disconnected handsy snatch or roll to the inside - just a natural tracing of the outer rim or circumference. The feeling of "straight back" can easily pull the golfer off of that preestablished geometry right from the start, and from there precise compensatory actions are necessary if there is any hope of returning the clubface to the ball on the proper path time after time. So rather than have to rely on precisely "dropping it in the slot" the exact amount each and every swing, why not just put in the slot from the start and just keep it there?! Yeah - that serves everyone well, including beginners!

      Haven't we danced this dance enough times? “Truth" is defined as that which conforms to reality, and this swing system conforms to the unchanging realities of Physics, Geometry, and data from the game’s best golf ball strikers. Resistance is thusly futile..... 😎

      LOL!! I'm glad to know that you're enjoying my "lesson and a show" instruction style, Nicky! Just know that despite the entertainment aspect, everything taught here from a golf swing perspective is consistent with a swing system rooted in physics, geometry, and human physiology, and modeled on empirical observations of the game's greatest ball strikers. So have a chuckle or two, perhaps snarf down a buttery biscuit, and then get to work! 😎 Tom

    Years ago they told me that's why I chicken wing. But eventually I figured out if your weight goes forward at the top because of torque, it's fine. If it goes forward due to sway, then it's a problem.

      Hi John, The notion of a “weight” shift in the golf swing has led many an amateur golfer into the vast abyss of chronic inconsistency and frustration. In fact, here is Jack Nicklaus on weight shift: "I don't believe in a lateral shift," says Nicklaus. "Of course not. I believe in staying on the ball." Asked what he thinks about teachers who advocate a weight shift, he answers, "They don't know how to play." Now, there is certainly an allowance for a transfer of “pressure” into the trail side. After all, we are moving the mass of the arms and club back and around us during the takeaway and backswing. Some like to sense the dynamic pressure shifts; others prefer the feel of a gradual increasing of weight load into the lead leg from the start. However, in either scenario the key here is that we do not allow our mass - and thereby our swing center and low point - to drift back at any point. In the swing I teach we start with our weight forward (generally 55/45 for the short and mid irons, 60/40 for the longer clubs), gradually add more forward weight load into the transition (70/30), 80/20 halfway down, 90/10 impact, and 95/5 finish. There's no "weight shift"; instead, it's just a gradually increasing load onto the lead side. And the result is a centered, low-maintenance, body-friendly, consistent, and tremendously powerful motion. Thanks for sharing your experience! Tom PS: Would you like to learn some key aspects of the swing I teach in a more structured manner? I tried this at the range today and hit the ball so well I had to look it up to see if it was a fluke or how you are really supposed to swing a club…and now I find myself with my golf idol telling me it’s the best way to swing!
